Travel back in time to 19th-century Algarve and immerse yourself in the living memory of an era when life moved to the rhythm of the land, tradition, and hospitality. This immersive experience authentically and sensorially recreates everyday life in the Serra do Caldeirão, as well as that of the families who once inhabited the stately home that today houses the São Brás de Alportel Costume Museum.
Visitors are welcomed with a traditional Algarve afternoon snack before embarking on a guided tour of the manor house. The route takes in the former stables, carriage house, and an exhibition space dedicated to the region’s rich cork heritage.
The experience culminates in an unforgettable encounter at the museum’s washhouse, where a group of local washerwomen wash clothes and sing traditional songs as if time had stood still. Visitors are invited to join the dances and songs, becoming part of the story themselves and experiencing a living tradition that continues to connect past and present.
Free admission. Limited capacity. Advance registration required.
Each participant may register for only one tour. Registration is open until 10pm on June 22.
