Step back in time and experience the Middle Ages on this guided tour of Castro Marim. Dressed in period costume, you will explore the historic centre, visit its imposing castle, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of a medieval tavern.

At the scheduled time, we meet at the Medieval Tavern of Castro Marim to begin our journey into the village’s most prosperous era.

Participants have the opportunity to dress in medieval attire (optional) before setting off on a guided tour through the historic streets. We visit the Castle of Castro Marim and its Archaeological Museum, where artefacts from the town’s past reveal what daily life was like centuries ago. Through the stories and insights of our guides, we travel back to the age of kings and queens, and to the 14th century, when this fortress became the first headquarters of the Order of Christ.

Along the way, we admire the castle’s remarkably preserved ruins and enjoy breathtaking views over the town, the nature reserve, and the salt marshes. The route also includes a visit to a Templar-themed shop and a local craft brewery.

The experience concludes back at the Medieval Tavern, where participants enjoy a delicious traditional snack accompanied by a medieval-inspired drink. Surrounded by candlelight, music, and period costumes, this is the perfect setting to capture unforgettable photographs and memories of your journey through time.
