Moinho do Gentil is a historic watermill that has been in the same family for generations and is now cared for by Leonor, granddaughter of Mr Gentil, the man who gave the mill its name. Nestled in the Algarve countryside, far from the crowds, this special place preserves stories, traditions, and a warm hospitality that can be felt from the moment you arrive.

The experience begins with a warm welcome at the mill, where the history of the family and the region comes to life through local stories and personal memories. This is followed by a leisurely walk along the old stone irrigation channels, through fields and peaceful landscapes, offering a glimpse of an Algarve that few visitors ever get to discover.

Back at the mill, it is time to roll up your sleeves. Together, participants prepare a traditional dish using fresh ingredients and family recipes, celebrating the authentic flavours of the Algarve hinterland. The meal that follows is the result of this shared effort — simple, genuine, and memorable.

In the afternoon, the experience concludes with a local crafts workshop, where you will explore traditional techniques and create a unique keepsake to take home.

More than a visit, this is a day immersed in the true Algarve — nourishing for the body, inspiring for the mind, and unforgettable in memory.
